collect is getting a new website!

Collect will be getting a new website in the next couple of weeks. The new site will replace this blog and will include a portfolio of all of our artists and the works that we represent on their behalf. Also, there will be "news" and "exhibitions" pages that display our past, current, and upcoming events and bulletins. Looking forward to the launch!!

Collect is very proud to announce the opening night event for our next artist, Matthew Shallenberger. Shallenberger's photographs depict beautiful, and often barren, landscapes that are presented as segmented stills. His prints act as windows, enabling viewers to peer out into the environments that he has so carefully preserved - and even invites viewers to feel as though they are standing in a vast expanse of water, rocks, and trees.

This pivotal event will also mark the grand opening of Collect's two gallery spaces in Old Oakland. Please join us in celebrating Shallenberger's photography and enjoy food and drinks provided by B Restaurant and Lavende. This is an event that is not to be missed!

On August 12, 2009, Collect co-curated a hugely successful art show in partnership with Project One. The event drew art lovers and hipsters young and old to enjoy a fun evening at Project One's beautiful gallery at the foot of Potrero Hill. DJs TS and Roll provided some stellar mixes to keep hearts and heels tapping. Our artists, Terry Powers and Isaac Vasquez, enjoyed well-deserved attention and praise for their stunning and playful pieces. And we (Lauren and Leila) couldn't have been happier with the results! circus club show at project one tomorrow night!!!!

Collect is so proud of our upcoming show tomorrow night at Project One. We just finished hanging the works and setting up the gallery space. Tomorrow night's show is made possible by Project One owner, Brooke Waterhouse, and will be a pivotal event for us - definitely one that is not to be missed! The featured artists, Terry Powers and Isaac Vasquez, have worked very hard to create the stunning works that will be on display for tomorrow evening's opening event. The space has been coordinated and designed by Lauren Geremia. Please join us in celebrating this exciting show and be ready for an engaging evening with art enthusiasts, industry professionals, food, drinks, and dancing.

final 10 days of bianco's show at dwr

If you haven't already seen it, be sure to visit DWR on Fillmore Street to view Bianco's beautiful photography. Our show has been enjoying positive press and feedback and we encourage the public to settle down in a cozy Eames recliner and enjoy the beautiful prints hanging on all the walls. Bianco's work will remain on display until August 16, 2009. Collect will continue to sell the prints from her show for a limited time.

collect will be opening two gallery spaces in old oakland

Starting in September 2009, Collect will take over two prime commercial spaces in Old Oakland. The first, located on 9th Street near Broadway, will serve as a gallery space for Collect artists as well as an office headquarters for Geremia Design. The second, located at 815 Broadway, will house the Collect Annex and will serve as a store and studio space for various rotating guest artists. The Annex will offer unique and hard-to-find art pieces and living accessories that have been carefully selected for immediate sale. It will enable different local artists to display their pieces in an environment that is conducive to showing off their wares. The spaces will be well-appointed and advertised to ensure maximum visibility. While operating both of these spaces simultaneously, Collect plans to attract a variety of local professionals and artists to the surrounding neighborhood by organizing and hosting community-centered events. Events will occur twice weekly and may be comprised of live music, food and drinks, sketch nights, film screenings, artist openings, and affordable art sales. Also, Collect plans on extending its reach to audiences beyond the local neighborhoods to the entire San Francisco Bay Area by utilizing its vast network of artists, art lovers, and business owners / clients. The spaces will be open to the public for viewing and business during regular business hours at least 3 times a week and by appointment.

Collect is proud to announce the grand opening of our next art event, Circus Club, made possible by Brooke Waterhouse at Project One. The show will run for one month and will celebrate the collaborative lives of artists, Terry Powers and Isaac Vasquez. Food and beverages will be provided. Dancing and music made possible by TS and Roll.
