framing workshop this thursday at collect annex

WHAT: Framing Workshop (framing basics + build your own floating framed art piece)

WHO: This workshop will be led by master framers, Dylan Grimes and Stefan Kirkeby, of Smith Anderson North.

WHERE: Collect Annex, 815 Broadway Street, Oakland, CA 94607

COST: FREE

SCHEDULE: This workshop will run in two parts. PART 1 will consist of framing basics: material preservation, acid free, woods, metals, glass or plexi, what museums and galleries use and why. PART 2 will consist of a hands-on session where participants will build a floating framed piece of art.

MATERIALS TO BRING:

- a 16x20 frame with plexi and / or glass (from Cheap Pete's, Target, Ikea etc.)

- a piece of artwork (no bigger than 15x19 and no smaller than 8x10).
